London days 1 and 2

We went to London a couple of weekends ago and part of last week.  Mark was going to a wave power conference, which he really enjoyed, and Alianna and I got to tour around.

We took the train down, a 4 1/2 hour ride, into Kings Cross station--the same station Harry Potter leaves from to go to Hogwarts.  We almost made it onto the Hogwarts train, but the wall solidified last moment.  Our suitcases were on that cart!
We arrived Sat. evening.  It was raining quite hard, so we didn't see much.  Sunday we went to church in the Hyde Park building.  There were a lot of visitors.  The church was right near a few free museums and Kensington Park.  So after church we went to the natural history museum.  It was really nice.

This is the main entrance hall.
They had a moving roaring T-Rex.
And a whole display of birds including hummingbirds of every variety.
Alianna liked the hands on bits.
After the museum we went to Kensington Gardens.  We saw the statue of Peter Pan.  If you didn't know, the author (J M Barrie) lived across the street.  His first book The Little White Bird had a story in it about a boy named Peter who could fly and who would fly out his window to Kensington Garden to play with the fairies.  The character of Peter Pan evolved from this boy.
