London day 4

Mark went to the wave energy conference the last two days.  So we had breakfast together, and Alianna played and took her nap before the two of us headed out as tourists.
First we went to the Kensington Palace.  We were staying in Kensington so it wasn't far.  They had an exhibit on making clothes way back when.  This is making some intricate lace.  Can you imagine!
There was also an exhibit on debutants.  The last debutants that went to the palace to meet the queen were in the 50s.  It was really interesting to learn all about what it was like.  The dresses were beautiful too.  I especially like the one on the left.  Being a debutant seemed fun--all the dances and parties, but it cost a lot 10,000 pounds for the cheapest, up to 50,000 for everything involved.
This is the grand stairway that people would take on their way to see the king.  The ceilings and walls are all painted.
I thought this piano was cool.
From the palace, we went on to the science museum.  I thought Alianna might enjoy it a bit more.  She was so excited as we went in through the space/astronaut part.  She started singing and kicking.  Maybe it is because all the space ships were covered in sparkly gold foil.

We were about to go into a very cool looking display on flying, when Alianna decided she was tired and had enough, so we left.  Maybe another time.
We made it to the corner, and Alianna fell asleep, so I went in another museum close by called the George and Albert museum.  They had nice sculptures and a display on fashion design which I really enjoyed.  I think Alianna liked it too when she woke up, especially the new designs done by students in London--very modern--one was an outfit made out of a suitcase.  Weird...
