Well, here I am 6 months pregnant. The baby is due Jan 11. We still don't know if it will be a boy or girl yet. I have seen the doctor here and will meet my midwife on Friday. They are very good with pregnancies and babies here I have heard. They won't do an ultrasound unless there are problems, so we could go get one done privately, or just wait until Jan. to know if we will have a little girl or boy. Mark really wants to know. I suppose I can wait. Either way, he or she is very active right now. Most every time I sit down, the baby is moving or kicking, and sometimes when I am moving around too!
Some cool things: after the baby is born the midwife will come visit me in my flat every day for 10 days to make sure things are going well. The University of Edinburgh has a medical school, so all the top technology in the hospitals. If Mark and I were both working, he would be entitled to 2 weeks paid paternity leave. Women get paid time off to attend parenting classes and appointments, and up to 6 months maternity leave (not all paid, but a lot of it is). And we will have a little Scottish baby! How exciting!
