This is a view across one of the bridges (it crosses more streets below). The fancy buildings are now hotels, restaurants...

This is the University student theatre.

This is the controversial Parliament building. Not controversial because of it's highly modern appearance, but because it was supposed to cost a few million pounds and ending up costing 300 billion pounds about. The designer and chief architect died during construction causing some of the trouble. They say there are parts of the building--rooms and design aspects--that they have no idea what they are for! The designer had complete drawings, but no notes explaining why.

Mark's first field trip was to a power plant in the countryside.

Here we are in just inside the castle entrance. There is a very elaborate gateway just before where we are that was added in the 1800s for tourists. This was the more traditional entrance. Look closely on the left, and you can see how the castle grows out of the rock--the rock being used as part of the wall.

You are both so lucky to live there! And you're going to have a Scottish-born wee bairn! Patrick and I were in Edinburgh last March and it's my top favorite city right along with Paris. Luckeeeee.
