Babymoon you may be asking; what's a babymoon? Well, I have been reading about it in baby magazines and in all the emails I get about new baby stuff (I signed up for some clubs to get coupons for baby stuff and now they email me a lot). A babymoon is like a honeymoon, time spent with the spouse...before the baby is born and every spare minute is spent on him or her. I imagine it will be even more busy and less time for us together with a little 2 year old too. So, we left Alianna at grandma Mimi's and went on a trip. Just the two of us. We missed our little girl, but we had a lot of fun!
We drove down to LA--almost 4 hours--on Mon. We arrived, checked into our hotel and went out for dinner and ice skating in downtown LA. It was fun skating with a bunch of people outside with the tall buildings all around us. A few people were surprised to see a pregnant lady skating, but I did fine. I figured if I can still do more of the yoga poses I used to before I was pregnant, my balance must be pretty good, and Mark was right by my side.

We went to a cemetery where there were great mosaics--this one about the founding of the US--and statues recast from famous artists. It was cool.

At night we drove us to a nicer neighborhood where they had advertised 8 blocks of lights and Christmas displays. There were wooden cutouts of all sorts of movie characters and Christmas scenes, blow up displays, lights and this amazing house with a flying Santa.

We spent most of a day at the J Paul Getty Museum. They have a large collection of famous artwork, illuminated medieval books, statues, and furnishings. We really enjoyed it, especially the fact that we could slowly look at each piece of art if we wanted to. This was outside. The architecture of all the buildings (the art is housed in 4 or 5 buildings?) was interesting too. I liked the way this wall reflected the buildings.

There was a cool garden too, which we didn't spend much time in since it was rainy and cold (too bad because the museum is on a huge hill with great views on a clear day). I liked these artistic trees.

We toured Paramount Pictures studio--the oldest and largest studio still in Hollywood. It was cool to see where a lot of movies and tv shows are made.

We saw the La Brea Tar Pits. There are tar pits in the middle of LA where they are still finding tons of fossils and bones. They had a museum with a lot on display. It was pretty cool to get right up to the tar pit and look into it at bones and bubbling tar.

Of course we toured Hollywood and saw the Chinese theatre where they do huge movie premieres. All the hand and footprints are in front. This one is cool with wand prints too!

The Chinese Theatre.

We saw West Side Story in this old art deco style theatre. It was a great show.

Then, on our way out, after a couple of days in LA, we stopped at the LA temple. It's such a beautiful building and so peaceful. I'm glad we could make that part of our trip.
