Doctors

These past two weeks have been full of doctor's appointments. Alianna saw her pediatrician who seemed really nice and great at first... Then we took her to have blood tests for allergies, and they came back all negative--no food allergies. So the doctor says that must be it, she has no food allergies, but we should take her to an allergist to be sure. (When we went to get the blood tests, I thought it was an allergist she was sending us to in the first place.) So, now we have a choice, see an allergist and possibly have Alianna diagnosed with wheat allergy and maybe not get insurance for her next time we move because she has a pre-existing condition (we really are getting annoyed with the health care industry here and there are a lot more reasons... including the months Mark had to fight the children's hospital to get the rate that under CA law we qualified for since we had no insurance when we brought Alianna. They didn't want to believe him until a pro bono lawyer called them). Anyway, our other choice, which we might just do for now, is tell everyone she is allergic to wheat and not give it to her because she throws up for 2 hours a lot every time we do give it to her. Believe me we have tested and it is the wheat. Luckily there are a lot of gluten free products now.

Then we went back to the pediatrician for a physical and to talk about immunizations. This is the one that really annoyed me. The physical was not much and then the pediatrician sent in a nurse with immunizations without talking to me. I was feeling really sick, so I didn't ask about them until we were leaving. Then when we got home I realized she was already up to date on 2 of the 3 immunizations they gave her!! How frustrating! They will not to any more without my full approval.

Next it was my turn to see the doctor, or more specifically the midwife (yes, for all of you who don't know, that means I'm pregnant!! About 4 months along.) There are only 2 midwives in the area, one I saw for a few appointments before we moved to Scotland, and I didn't like her much, so I only had one other choice if I wanted a midwife. I saw her for the first time very briefly--she had to rush off to deliver a baby, and I wasn't too impressed. But then I went back the next day. I went over my birth plan--what I wanted to happen and asked her a lot of questions. I really want a natural childbirth. And she was happy with that and wants to help me with doing things my way. Which is good. I don't like it when doctors treat me like I am dumb and tell me I have to do whatever they say because they know everything and I know nothing. I'm a smart person. I read a lot. I do know some medical stuff, and I am sure I know my own body more than anyone else ever will.

So, sorry for the long monologue. I also had another appointment for blood work, but enough about doctors.

One more thing--blogger did an update and now I can't get my background to work. Anyone know how to fix it and make my blog cute again? Help please!

Here I am 4 months along. Before Mark took this picture I kept looking down and thinking, wow my belly really is growing a lot. I thought it looked so big! Then I looked at the picture. There is a baby in there, just a little tiny one.
Here are some fun photos of Alianna

And some videos.
