We put Alianna in a swimming class. I was reading that a baby learns to be afraid of the water around 10 months, so starting swimming before that is best (then they are never afraid and won't panic if they fall in). We enrolled her in Water Babies, a class where they teach the baby to hold her breath and swim underwater.
Alianna loves the water. She was one of the babies that didn't cry when she was put underwater the first time the first class. She has had one other class (they are every Wed.) and has advanced ahead of the other kids into an advanced swimming position!

Alianna looks like quite the waterbug :). I screamed at the sight of water until I was about 7 ;)
