Halloween is coming!!

I love Halloween. I love how everyone opens their doors to everyone else and gives perfect strangers little gifts in the form of candy. I love how happy everyone is--especially the kids. I love seeing the creativity of costumes. I love dressing up and now, maybe even more, I love dressing up my kids and husband. Alianna is getting really excited. She told me she wanted to be a monkey, so we have been working on her costume. She helped me sew the monkey tail. Having her be a little monkey got me thinking. Who has a pet monkey--pirates of course. Alianna has been super excited about pirates too since she has been to a couple of pirate birthday parties and got little pirate finger puppets as party favors from her cousin. She loves singing yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me. Then she screams and runs away from the mean pirates. We've been able to convert two of the pirates to nice pirates, but one lone mean pirate still hides around the house and tries to kidnap me every once in a while. But I digress. Monkeys belong to pirates, and poor Aladdin types. Pirates. Mark and I will be pirates. And Eli? Well pirates always have parrots too, so I designed a parrot costume and am making that too. We should be cute. Hopefully. At least the kids will be.
Here we are getting ready for Halloween. I found the pumpkin costume and had to put Eli in it since he will probably outgrow it by Halloween. Alianna and I are making witch hats out of rice krispie treats with a trick--hershey kisses inside, in our stylish Halloween aprons. If you can't read them it says every good witch knows it's all about the shoes. Thanks for the matching aprons grandma Mimi. We love them!
